ABOUT ARNUITY

  • What is ARNUITY?

    • ARNUITY is a prescription inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) medicine taken as 1 inhalation, once daily, to prevent and control symptoms of asthma for better breathing in adults and children aged 5 years and older.
    • ARNUITY is not used to relieve sudden breathing problems and will not replace a rescue inhaler. Always have a rescue inhaler, such as albuterol, with you to treat sudden breathing problems.

ARNUITY should be taken once a day, at the same time each day. Have a plan. Make ARNUITY part of your personal health routine by pairing it with another daily activity──like brushing your teeth at bedtime or putting in your contact lenses. Find what works best for you and stick with it.

ARNUITY has been shown to improve breathing all day and all night. It may take up to 2 weeks or longer after starting ARNUITY to see maximum benefit. Your results may vary.

You can REACT to asthma symptoms or you can also help CONTROL them.

As you work with your healthcare provider to manage your asthma symptoms, it’s important to understand the differences between a rescue medicine like albuterol and a long-term controller medicine like ARNUITY.

  • How ARNUITY works

ARNUITY contains a medicine called fluticasone furoate, which is an inhaled corticosteroid (ICS) medicine. ICS medicines help prevent symptoms of asthma by reducing airway inflammation. Inflammation can make your airways more sensitive and more narrow than usual, making it harder to breathe. The exact mechanism of how ICSs such as ARNUITY work in asthma is not known.

ARNUITY is not for, and should not be used to treat, sudden symptoms of asthma. ARNUITY won’t replace a rescue inhaler. ARNUITY is available by prescription only.

It may take up to 2 weeks or longer after starting ARNUITY to see maximum benefit. Your results may vary.

Ask your healthcare provider if ARNUITY may be right for you.

  • How to use ARNUITY

  • What are the possible side effects with ARNUITY?

    • weakened immune system and increased chance of getting infections (immunosuppression)
    • reduced adrenal function (adrenal insufficiency). Adrenal insufficiency is a condition where the adrenal glands do not make enough steroid hormones. This can happen when you stop taking oral corticosteroid medicines (such as prednisone) and start taking a medicine containing an ICS (such as ARNUITY). During this transition period, when your body is under stress from fever, trauma (such as a car accident), infection, surgery, or worse asthma symptoms, adrenal insufficiency can get worse and may cause death. Symptoms of adrenal insufficiency include:
      • feeling tired
      • lack of energy
      • weakness
      • nausea and vomiting

      • breathing problems
    • bone thinning or weakness (osteoporosis).
    • slow growth in children and adolescents. A child’s or adolescent’s growth should be checked often.

Common side effects of ARNUITY include:

    • runny nose and sore throat
    • headache
    • breathing problems (bronchitis)
    • flu

These are not all the possible side effects of ARNUITY.

Call your doctor for medical advice about side effects. You may report side effects to FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088.

  • What is asthma?

Asthma is a serious lung disease, and inflammation of your airways is a major factor. Inflammation can make your airways more sensitive and more narrow than usual, making it harder to breathe. If the inflammation caused by your asthma isn’t treated correctly, your symptoms may get worse. It is important to monitor your symptoms so that you can recognize when they are getting worse.

Some days you may feel great, with no symptoms at all. That doesn’t mean your asthma has gone away. You can’t cure asthma, but working along with your healthcare provider, you can learn to manage it. Learning how to manage your asthma may help you keep it under control.
